It is no longer easy to find out if your PC has an infection.

By the end of 2009 there will be over 1 million unique viruses for Windows Computers. Even if you have an anti-virus installed, you are not 100% safe. When a virus is first found in the wild it can take up to two weeks for anti-virus companies to release updated definitions - which allow your computer to detect the virus. However, those two weeks are more than enough time for your computer to get damaged.

In this day and age malware is a multi-billion dollar industry, and no longer just pranks or simply attempts to damage your computer. Most viruses, trojans or other pieces of malware hide themselves on your system and simply monitor your use of the computer in an attempt to steal your credit card details, bank account information or any part of your identity without your knowledge.

What we can do to remove it for you.

There are two different options we offer every customer when they bring a virus infected PC to us.

Option 1: Complete Reinstall

We will always recommend a complete reinstall of your computer. This process involves us creating a backup of your documents, movies, music, pictures & any other personal files. Once we have those backups we wipe your computer completely, and then reinstall your copy of Microsoft Windows & Microsoft Office (if you have one). We then ensure the PC is fully updated with the latest security & software fixes. Finally we copy your personal documents back to your PC.

If you choose this option, then when you receive your PC back it will be as if it was brand new so you will be required to reinstall any other software you may have. We will hold onto the backup of your data for 1 week before securely wiping it, in case of any missing files.

Option 2: Cleaning your PC

Removing viruses is not an easy job as they dig themselves deep into your computer, however our team have been removing viruses for over a decade and use the most advanced tools available today to get rid of any infection.  We remove your computers hard drive, place it externally into another computer and run several different pieces of cleaning software through it, scanning externally is better as some viruses hide themselves very well from your computer, however they cannot hide from another computer!

This system of cleaning is the most likely to clean up your system completely. However, there is never a guarantee that every piece of malware can be effectively cleaned from your computer, and just having one piece left is a conduit for more to re-infect your PC very quickly.  If after two hours of work we are unable to clean your system we will suggest a complete reinstall on top of the work we have already completed. For this reason we will always recommend Option 1.
